On Tuesday 19th November a group of volunteers from Friends of Wisewood and District, Wisewood Methodist Church, Wisewood Sports Centre, the RIVA Project, local conservation groups, Penine Housing and others gathered on the old school site with Dom from the Co-op to mix and scatter seed, and plant some 'plugs' to start off the new Community Garden with a wild flower meadow as part of the Co-op's Pollinator Patches initiative. Some of the plants we put in included: Chamomile, Rough Hawkbit, Yarrow, Meadow Buttercup, Salad Burnet, Oxeye Daisies and more! With so many helpers, we managed to do this, and also get a Christmas Tree set up ready for the Community Tree and Carols event on the 8th Decemeber, in just over an hour! We then enjoyed a well earned break with tea and toast courtesy of RIVA's coffee shop.
