Members' Notices

Church Council

A reminder to members of church council that the next meeting is to be held on Thursday 23rd January at 7-30pm. An agenda and minutes of the previous meeting will be circulated shortly .

Flower Fund Appeal The church flower fund pays for the flowers at special times such as Christmas and Easter as well as some funerals. It relies upon donations from members of the congregation. At present the fund is very low. If you would be able to make a donation to boost the funds, would you please see Kay Kennedy. Thank you.

Many thanks

to those members of Wisewood congregation who chose to display one card at the rear of the church rather than sending individual cards to their Wisewood friends. As a result of donations given in lieu of expenditure on numerous cards the sum of £75 has been forwarded to MERCY SHIPS, this year’s selected charity. The hope is expressed that more people may choose this method of greeting in 2014. Margaret Taylor

Prayer Column

The Prayer Group meets every Saturday and Sunday morning between 9 and 9-30am.

We read from Ephesians ch. 3 “I pray that He may strengthen you……….”

We gave thanks for all those making God’s work accessible throughout the world, especially where they are persecuted for doing so, but are able to find strength to continue working for God.We are horrified that there are so many children in need around the world and even in this country those who are without food. We prayed for integrity and articulate voices to speak out against poverty and greed. We gave thanks for food banks and for inspired individuals who see a need and in faith set up agencies to meet the needs of those in distress.
Our prayers continued for peace in south Sudan, Iraq, the Middle East and especially Syria, where so many people have had to leave their homes and are now trying to survive in ‘tent cities’.
In Indonesia a volcano is erupting on the island of Samatra . We prayed for the thousands of people affected by this.
