3 volunteers re-planting a Christmas tree in the Wisewood Community Garden, 29th Jan 2014

On Weds 29th Jan 2014 a small team of volunteers continued the development of the Wisewood Community Garden (on the site of the old secondary school) by planting a variety of trees. There were 11 different types of apple tree! These include Yorkshire types such as Green Balsam, Cockpit Improved, Hornsea Herring, Ribson Pippin, Acklam Russet and Dog’s Snout. We also planted a cherry tree (Prunus Avium), and some non-fruit trees, such as Field and Norway Maple, Silver Birch, Italian Alder, Horse Chestnut and Rowan or Mountain Ash. We also unpotted the Christmas tree in the hope of making a permanent fixture, and planted climbers at the bottom of the new pergola. It was a bit muddy, but the weather held off while we were out!
