Prayer Column

The Prayer Group meets every Saturday and Sunday morning between 9 and 9-30am.

We read from Isaiah ch.16 v.6 and gave thanks for those seeking and working for justice and righteousness. We remembered those displaced from their homes and suffering the horrors of war and torture in Syria.
In South Sudan there is much loss of life and devastation caused by ethnic quarrelling. The Leprosy Mission clinic and workshop is caught up in the midst of this unrest. We prayed for the safety of the staff and patients there.
In this country the relentless wind and rain is causing huge problems for many communities: severe flooding, power failures, transport disruption etc.

We prayed especially for the people in Somerset and the south west and also for those working to try and get things back to normal: firemen, armed services, the environmental agency etc.

We prayed against bullying wherever it occurs, thinking especially of members of the armed forces where a young woman recently took her life as a consequence of bullying. We remembered her family and prayed that there may be an end to bullying.

We gave thanks for prayers answered and continued our prayers for those mentioned in our prayer book and for those in particular difficulties, especially people known to us.
