Our new circuit will be reviewing the life and mission of all its churches over the next three years. To this end a process has been developed and we have equipped a number of facilitators to accompany and lead churches through these reviews. It is really important that this process begins with everyone involved in the local churches. A simple questionnaire has been produced which you are invited to complete and ensure is returned to the red box in the vestibule by the 16th February. A small group from our own church will collate the responses at the end of February. This will lead to a more detailed conversation in partnership with other churches, as together, we seek to explore how each congregation can most effectively undertake its mission. Please take one of the questionnaires in the foyer and return it when completed to the post-box. There will be more details to follow about meetings to review the life of the church facilitated by the circuit. Any questions about the circuit review please speak to Katie.

There is no evening service at Wisewood next Sunday 9th February as there is a circuit service for all at Wesley Hall at Crookes starting at 6pm

The latest Sheffield Circuit update can be found on the vestibule desk.

Prayer Column

We read from Ecclesiastes 5 from v8. ‘Riches are meaningless…… whoever loves money never has enough………’

This week was designated ‘ Poverty & Homelessness Action Week’

We prayed for those who have much, will be prepared to use their wealth to support the poor.So many rich and powerful people have been meeting in Davros but poverty seems not to be on the agenda. We gave thanks that the Pope spoke out against greed and prayed that the promises made at previous meetings be honoured—to help those in greatest need.We prayed for the representative of the United Nations, acting as an intermediary in the talks to discuss the future of Syria and for meetings to discuss peace. May rescue and sustenance be forthcoming for those still in Syria and for refugees. There is trouble and unrest in so many areas of the world and it is difficult to understand man’s inhumanity to man which cause such grief. In Pakistan a doctor and two nurses were killed by members of Al—Quaeda for giving out anti-polio drops to young children.
We gave thanks for the Trusswell Trust opening more food banks . May parliament feel the disgrace that the need for food banks is necessary in this country. We prayed for those who may be socially and monetarily deprived and find themselves having to make use of food banks . May we do all we can to help any we become aware of. We remembered Big Issue sellers standing out in all weathers to earn a meagre living .
