Prayer Column

The prayer group meets every Saturday and Sunday morning at 9 o’clock.

We read from psalm 150—a psalm of praise. “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.” We gave thanks for blessings received on all the recent church activities and for those who have worked to put on these events. May all who came and enjoyed them and shared fellowship be drawn to find out more about Jesus. We prayed fro those working and raising funds in the Christion Aid week and at our May Fayre and the coffee morning being held for Bluebell Wood Hospice. We prayed for its sick children, their families and staff that all may find comfort and hope.

We gave thanks for the miracles of modern science and prayed for the well-being of several people known to us who have received hospital treatments recently.

In Sudan a pregnant Christian woman who married a Christian man has accused of abandoning her Muslim faith. Sudan is governed by Islamic law and she has been sentenced to 100 lashes, suspended until she has given birth, then execution suspended for two years. May the ayatollahs realise that this action is not God’s way and release her.

Biblelands has been able to return to Vietnam with bibles in the local language. We gave thanks for the people who take God’s word into dangerous places.

Our prayers continued for the for the Nigerian girls still in captivity. May U.N. and other international intervention be successful in finding them and returning them to their families.

We prayed for those suffering as a result of national disasters—flooding in the Balkans and cyclone in India-and as a result of war or inter-faith turmoil ie. civil war in Sudan, unrest in Ukraine, Iraq and Palestine.

Help us to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, put our trust in you and be constantly renewed by your Holy Spirit.
