Prayer group column

We read from Psalm 83 - “O God do not keep silent...” etc... and from Psalm 17.

Sometimes we may feel discouraged by the troubles we see around the world and when we see how devastating war is. The ripples of fighting and degradation stretch out on so many fronts causing death, destruction, homelessness etc... This is not God's wish.

We continued to pray for those who have lost loved ones or been injured as a result of war.

Syrian refugees continue to stream over the border into Jordan where they now make up a third of its population.

Trouble is again mounting in Israel where building of Jewish settlements continues.

Fighting continues in the Central African Republic with much bloodshed. We gave thanks for a Christian priest here who travels around this troubled country wearing his white robes and has managed to gain the respect of all sides in the conflict. May he be able to promote a message of goodwill between faiths.

Lord we plead for peace. May all realise we are all God’s children. May world leaders be guided to make right decisions for a fairer, peaceful world.

We gave thanks for all the donations to 'Children in Need' providing resources to so many agencies helping disadvantaged children.

We prayed for RIVA and BELONG working to help people gain a place in society by providing work experience etc...

We remembered those living on the streets, especially in our own city and prayed for those addicted to drugs, alcohol etc... May we take every opportunity to reach out to those in need.
