Wesley Guild meetings will resume tomorrow, Monday 16th February at 2:30pm, with a devotional theme led by Rev. John Peacock. All are welcome. Come and join in the fellowship. John G.

Ashing & Holy Communion service on Ash Wednesday 18th February at 7:30pm. The ashing involves having your head marked with a sign of a cross made from the ash of burnt palm crosses (and a little bit of olive oil). It is a sign of repentance and sorrow for sin; it points us back to the dust of the earth from which the human race was created and forward to dust to which we return. It is also a reminder of our baptism when we were marked with the cross. It is a service to mark the start of Lent and the beginning of our time of preparation for Easter. Everyone is very welcome. If you would like some more information, please speak to Katie.

Thinking Day & 1st in Lent service: Sunday 22nd February at 10:30am.

We plan to meet at Harry and Wendy's house, on Wednesday 25th Feb, 4th, 18th, 25th March and 1st April 7:30-9:00pm. Feel free to ask us any questions!

Prayer Group

We read from Psalm 37: 'Do not fret because of evil men... for like the grass they will soon wither’...

We prayed for the thousands of refugees around Syria, especially the children, now having to cope with freezing weather, lack of suitable shelter and little food.

The fighting continues at present in Ukraine between people who were once friends and neighbours and 6,000 people have been killed. The inhabitants of a whole town have been bussed out away from the conflict between government forces and 'rebels' who seem to be backed by Russian forces. Talks trying to find a way towards peace have taken place but the Russian President, Putin, has not so far agreed to the proposals. Further talks are to be held. We prayed for a successful outcome and for a cessation of the fighting.

The horrors of the IS group continue in Iraq and Syria. We prayed for the family of the murdered Jordanian pilot and for all those held captive or threatened by this group.

Justin Welby has again spoken out about the lack of social security for the poor and the lack of provision for armed forces veterans. May parliamentarians take note of the desperation felt by many trying to manage on low incomes and reduced benefits. How has this situation come to be so that we need so many food banks etc... in this country?

We gave thanks for the availability of the food bank at Parson Cross for those in desperate situations.

Lord, enable us to seek the Spirit's empowering in everything we undertake for You.
