Prayer Group Report

Our reading was from Psalm 33: “... The eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love...” We gave thanks for the hope and encouragement found in God's word and prayed for 'Biblelands', the agency which translates the Bible into different languages day by day.

At present they are translating it into various dialects in Vietnam and there is great excitement among the people receiving testaments in their own language.

A recent cyclone destroyed many buildings on the islands of Vanuatu and some lives were lost. We prayed for assistance to be forthcoming to help with rebuilding and gave thanks that the population had prepared for events such as this by erecting kilns as shelters and storing a small amount of food and fresh water thereby limiting the loss of life.

There are so many homeless people around the world - most having had to flee their homes to escape various terrorist groups.  We prayed for an end to this violence and lack of care for fellow human beings.

We gave thanks for our Community Choir and for the money raised for St. Luke's Hospice at their recent concert with Waldershelf Choir.

We prayed for those recovering from operations and for those anxiously awaiting treatment or test results.

Lord of unity and diversity help us to be your church in the world today.
