Sunrise Service

The prayer group did not meet in church over the Easter weekend but did gather on Sunday at 6:00am on Wadsley Common, along with several others, to celebrate Easter Day with a 'Sunrise Service'. This year the weather was kind to us and even at that hour of the morning was relatively mild.

We almost saw the sunrise but there was a bit of cloud in the way!

Our reading was from John's Gospel, chapter 20 v.24-31 - Jesus appears to Thomas - then a poem was read about Thomas and his doubting.

We blessed each other as we shared bread.

Prayers of adoration for all Jesus has done for us and prayers of intercession were said.

We prayed for those we know who are in any kind of distress and for Christians who are persecuted in many areas of the world, remembering especially the recent massacre of 147 people at a university in Kenya.

We sang a number of songs, ending the worship with 'Thine be the glory, risen conquering son. Endless is the victory thou o'er death has won.' Hallelujah.

Thanks to Dorothy most of us then dispersed to her house for breakfast of bacon butties and/or hot-cross buns.
