Prayer Group Report

After reading from Luke chapter 24, about the resurrection when the women went to the tomb with spices only to find that Jesus had risen, we prayed that many may have been influenced by all the services and Christian events over Easter and that hearts and minds may turn to Jesus.

We gave thanks for the Bible Society's 'Proclaimer' -a wind-up black box which plays passages from the bible so that anyone within hearing distance is able to listen to God's Word. This also assists the blind and those unable to read. Thanks too for the reconciliation between the U.S.A. and Cuba, where there has been so much hardship for many years.

In August last year thousands of Yazidis were captured by ISIS and many have been held in various locations since then as slaves or have been branded as pagans and killed.Last week a few mostly elderly and very young Yazidis were released but most of the children have been separated from their mothers to be indoctrinated, made to fight or work and, in the case of girls, become fighters' concubines. We prayed for them, especially the kidnapped children and that the hearts of those in terrorist groups such as ISIS, Boko Haram etc... may be softened and peace restored.

Since the outsourcing of UK visa processing to a French company the delay for those needing a visa to enter this country has lengthened, even for people who pay extra for so called priority service. We prayed for the plight of a war veteran's grandson who, it seems, is unlikely to get to see his grandfather before he dies because of this shambolic administration.

Looking to the forthcoming election, we prayed that the next government will be made up of people who are willing to work together for the good of all people and for a fairer, more just society.

Please continue to pray for all those brothers and sisters unable to attend our services, either through illness, housebound, in hospital or residential homes.
