Prayer Group Column

We read Psalm 10: "Why, O Lord do you stand far off? Why do you hide yourself in time of trouble?" Take time to read all of Psalm 10. It is a sad reflection of our world today. The greed and arrogance of corporate finance, the careless concern for workers, the people traffickers, the horrors visited on innocent peoples by Isis, Boko Haram Al Khaida et al.

We prayed for the latest victims of fire in the Indonesian warehouse, the Burmese Rohingyas left to drift at sea because no-one wanted them, the victims of war and massacre and for refugees.

We thanked God for the many agencies and charities working to alleviate this suffering. We gave thanks for the reconciliation extended to Cuba by the Pope. We have often prayed that the very rich might be moved to be generous and it was good to know that a certain CEO of Tiens, a Chinese IT conglomerate had taken his whole staff on a seaside holiday to Nice, costing him £22M!

We gave thanks for the success of the May Market, for all the people who came and enjoyed the fellowship and for all those who worked hard to make it such a success.
