Prayer Group

We read from Deuteronomy ch.31 and from Psalm 9 v.1-2 - 'The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed...' In these times when the world seems to be in a state of chaos with wars, terrorism and unrest in so may areas, we are aware that if our world followed God's rules we would all live in aplace of peace and prosperity. We prayed for those fleeing war torn areas and for those so distressed and unhappy in overcrowded refugee camps.

We prayed about the desperate situation in Nepal where a devastating earthquake has led to thousands of deaths and left so many homeless. We gave thanks for all the agencies who give immediate and ongoing assistance in emergency situations.

Our prayers continued for Tear Fund's partners working in Africa thinking especially of South Sudan where a long running conflict continues. To date food and assistance has been given to 95,000 people and 18,000 mosquito nets have been issued in South Sudan.

We gave thanks for this and that progress has been made towards the production of a vaccine for malaria which, it is hoped, will be ready for use within a year.

One of our circuit superintendents will be returning to Ghana shortly and will be taking with him goods and cash to help a church where he will be preaching during his stay. We gave thanks and prayed for his well being on this journey.

We remembered the members of Horizon (Endcliffe) who will be dispersing to various churches following its recent closure after many years of witness.

We prayed for candidates seeking votes for the upcoming election that people will take time to think, listen and to vote on 7th May. May the elected government be built on the rock of neighbourhood, justice and fairness rather than the sands of greed and selfishness.
