Buttons. A member of the Bluebell Wood Support Group is collecting buttons which she then sorts into sets, attaches to cards and sells, all money going to Bluebell Wood. She attends fairs, coffee mornings etc. to sell the buttons, when invited to do so. To date, this has been very popular. If you have any buttons that you no longer require, I will be pleased to forward them. Hope you can help! Thanks. Enid.

Harvest Supper will be on Saturday 26th September. More details later. The community singers will be performing...!

Remember In Your Prayers all our brothers and sisters unable to attend our services, either through illness, housebound, in hospital or in residential homes.

Prayer Group Report

We thought of the way successive generations of proud, greedy, selfish men and women have spoiled God's vision for the world. There is so much bribery and corruption abounds in all areas of society. We read in Psalm 12 that God wants the ache in the hearts of the poor and needy to be healed.

We prayed for vigilance of the law to deal with corruption wherever it occurs - banks, national and local governments, sports clubs and their governing bodies etc...

So many people are affected by war, conflicts and discrimination, they risk their lives fleeing their homes by whatever means possible. Many have died trying to reach Europe by boat from N. Africa or leaving Burma for Thailand in the hope of a better life. Others have been in refugee camps for many years in terrible living conditions. In parts of India some families are so poor that they are willing to sell their children to unscrupulous people who then traffic the children into slave labour or the sex trade. We prayed for them: may God's Holy Spirit inspire governments, aid agencies and ordinary people to help and find solutions.

We prayed for our government that the enthusiasm to serve may remain and that they be continually reminded of the need for fairness and justice.

We prayed for the Methodist Church in its open and honest investigations of past abuse and remembered those who have suffered abuse in years past. May the safeguarding measures now in place prevent future suffering.

We prayed for our own church and all that happens here. May we continue to know God's presence with us at all times.
