Prayer Group Notes

We read from Luke chapter 11 Jesus' teaching on prayer, leading into the Lord's Prayer. How important it is to keep on praying and obeying God's word. We brought before God the people still suffering because of the horrors of wars and terrorist attacks past and present and prayed for peace. We gave thanks for all the agencies which help relieve suffering thinking especially of 'Embrace' doing fantastic work in the Middle East helping children and providing medical aid; 'Tearfund' working with 'Embrace' and in other places to help relieve suffering; 'Biblelands' translating the bible into hundreds of local dialects and languages. Thanks for all the ways God's love and His word are spread. May God's word reach many hearts.

Thanks too for the donations, love and prayers which help to keep the aid agencies viable and able to continue their work.

An agreement has finally been made with Iran regarding their nuclear power. May the consequent lifting of sanctions help towards peace in the area despite opposition to the agreement by Israel & Syria.

We prayed for world leaders meeting again to discuss climate change. Following his meeting with David Attenborough, President Obama committed the U.S. to reduce carbon output. May solutions be agreed by all the leaders.

We prayed for the families grieving following the devastating explosion at the wood processing plant in Cheshire.

We gave thanks for the young people and leaders who attended the recent District Weekend. May they build on their positive experience to get to know more about Jesus and spread the Good News.

In Ephesians we read: "I pray that you will be rooted in love..." May we be able to express in all our living the love of Jesus.
