Prayer Group Report

We read part of Galations chapter 3:  'All are one in Christ Jesus... You are all sons of God and heirs.'

Thanks to God for His promises and for our wonderful world.

Thanks too for the work done by 'Mercy Ships' and 'Mission Aviation Fellowship' for whom the Ladies' Guild coffee morning was raising funds.

We gave thanks that for so long Japan has refused to build up an army or to make weapons. However, some now fear that there is a threat from China and the pacifists are being challenged to return to a build up of weapons and spending on defence.

On the 70th anniversary of V.J. day we prayed against war and those calling for re-armament.

In China there has been a huge explosion in the port of Tianjin. Many have been killed or injured, thousands have been made homeless and repercussions of toxic gas and dust are making life very difficult for miles around. We prayed for all those affected, for the people now caring for them and for the Chinese government trying to deal with the aftermath.

There are still hundreds of people fleeing the Middle East in flimsy boats to try and reach Europe. The Greek island of Kos is at present overwhelmed by migrants arriving from Turkey. We prayed for the situation there and gave thanks that the Greek government, despite being in so much debt, has provided a cruise ship to accommodate and process those arriving daily.

We prayed for all the young people who have taken GCSE and A-levels. May those who were disappointed with A-level results be able to find alternatives for their ongoing studies, if necessary.

Our prayers continued for 'The Oakes' and other Christian centres with the opportunity to introduce so many young people to Jesus. May all those who attend this summer or who have been in years past, continue in a lifelong journey with Jesus.

At the end of Galations, Paul tells us that under Jesus there is freedom of life.

"As we have opportunity may we do good to all."
