Prayer Group Report

We read from the book of Esther chapter 4. She risks death by going to King Xerxes to support her people and plead for the safety of the Jews. She is told by Mordecai "You were raised for such a time as this". Is God calling any of us at this time to go and make a difference in our world? Our prayers continued for 'Embrace' working tirelessly in the Middle East, especially its work with children and the areas where Christians and Muslims are encouraged to work together.

We gave thanks as the Alpha organisation is teaming up with Biblelands to take the course overseas. Already 3,000 people in Ghana have given their lives to Jesus as a result of following an Alpha course. We prayed for the Gideons and the important work they do placing bibles and offering testaments to secondary school pupils. In Sheffield the only school not now open to Gideons is Bradfield school. May the new school year see a change of heart there so that all Sheffield school-children have the opportunity to receive a testament.

We prayed for the Oakes Christian Centre whose summer holiday programme is well underway. May the many young people holidaying there come to know Jesus for themselves. During term times may there be more interest from more schools for group bookings.

We remembered those mentioned in our prayer book, those in constant pain or awaiting results of hospital tests, the bereaved, those having difficulty with relationships, etc... Lord shine your light on your church and the way ahead reminding us that you are always with us.
