Prayer Group

We read from Ephesians 6 v.10-18 which talks about the Armour of God. We prayed for investigative journalists and prayed that the revelations about tax evasion and corruption might now be addressed. Especially the forthcoming meeting of world leaders discussing better regulation of tax havens and other fiscal matters.

We gave thanks for the Cumbrian young farmers who not only helped their colleagues whose farms had been flooded but decided to help citizens whose homes had been flooded. They realised that all the household furniture and goods could be better moved with their tractors. They were commended by Carlisle Council leadership for their efforts.

‘Bible a month’ asked us to pray for Jordan. This country has taken in and resettled 1.5million refugees. Many have fled Syria, Iraq, Palestine and Egypt. The government has made a huge effort to resettle people in communities. We prayed once again for peace in that part of the world.

On Sunday we concentrated on Ephesians 6 v.19 when Paul asks for prayer, that “when he opens his mouth, he may fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel.” Our prayers were answered. We went through the plan and prayed that preachers and ministers were given this gift. Last Sunday morning we were blessed by a wonderful testimony and interpretation of the lectionary readings by Sheila Lomas with help from her husband.
