Prayer Group Report

We read from Proverbs, chapter 31: 'Speak up for those who cannot speak up for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute etc..' We prayed that we may see, hear, think and love with God's heart to reach out with help for those in need. We prayed for all the agencies, remembering especially 'Embrace', and the volunteers who often risk their lives taking aid to the needy, especially across the Middle East. A recent bombing raid near Syria seemed to target a refugee camp and many innocent people were killed. May those continuing conflict and bombing seek the way of peace.

We prayed against terrorist groups such as Daesh (ISIL) and Boko Haram which denigrate women and persecute all who believe differently.

We gave thanks for 'Biblelands' and its initiative in setting up a shopping mall in Costa Rica to make and sell cards etc. In addition, arrangements have been made to supply their goods to several Walmart shops in areas where charitable giving does not generally have a priority. The proceeds from these sales will support the work of 'Biblelands' with children and with the poor in various places.

We remembered all those who have lost their homes in the wild-fires raging across Alberta, Canada. In Italy a judge has decreed that a homeless man whose hunger led him to steal some food was not guilty of any crime. All are entitled to sustenance.

We prayed for the sick, the bereaved, the lonely, the destitute etc. remembering any known personally to us.
