Bring a duster which will gain you free entry to this once-in-a-year event. You don’t have to be there at 9:00am. Anytime in the morning would be a great help.

Syrian Aid. If you have or know of a space roughly the size of a double garage that can be used to store and sort clothing and water to be taken out to Syria in two months' time, please see Becca.

We Are Hoping To Get A Band together to play on the 15th May, during the Pentecost morning service. If you play an instrument and would like to be involved, please let Becca or Katie know.

May Market will be on Saturday 21st May from 11:00am. The stalls include plants, cakes, books, toys, £1 stall and a raffle. Prizes for the raffle and any items which you wish to donate will be welcome. Refreshments will be served.

To All Groups Using Church: before leaving the premises, please ensure you switch off all lights, in particular the toilet lights. We are trying to minimise our utility bills. For 2015/16 the total cost of electricity, gas and water was £6,000 (£120 per week). Thank you for your co-operation. Cliff & Stuart.

Prayer Group Report

We read from Genesis chapter 21, how Abraham was tested by God and thanked God for His providence if we only trust.

We prayed for 'Embrace' and its partners as they offer instruction in reading, writing and other skills to women across the Middle East. Women are currently excluded from education in many areas and these new skills enhance their lives.

Pope Francis has recently made up for hundreds of years of antagonism between the Catholic and the Orthodox church by shaking hands with its leader. The two churches are now in discussion to try and reconcile former differences. We prayed for a united Christian church and unity amongst all believers.

Our prayers of thanks continued for all the countries taking in refugees, thinking especially of Jordan - a very small country which has taken in and re-settled a huge number of desperate people. May they receive support from neighbouring countries for more refugees to be given the opportunity to make a new life there. We prayed for peace for all.

The Methodist Prayer handbook asks us to pray for North and South Korea. We prayed for reconciliation and a softening of the hearts of their leaders.

Traidcraft's present campaign is to urge the government to publish, then act on, its revised 'National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights'. This was promised three months ago. Meanwhile a number of companies (some British) are not giving employees a fair or just deal: health and safety issues are ignored, people are forced out of their homes to make way for industry, others are threatened with violence if they question what is going on, etc...

We prayed for the sick and those in any kind of distress.
