Family Fun Day. Please do come down to Hillsborough Park on Saturday 14th May, between 1:00-4:00pm and support this event, if you can. Thanks.

We Are Hoping To Get A Band together to play on the 15th May, during the Pentecost morning service. If you play an instrument and would like to be involved, please let Becca or Katie know.

Pentecost Faith Lunch will be held on Sunday 15th May, after the service, in the church hall. See list on the front desk. All welcome, whether bringing food to share or not.

Christian Aid Breakfast. The circuit office would like to invite you all at The Furnival, on Thursday 19th May 9:00-11:30am. We’ll be serving sausage sarnies (including Halal option), bacon butties, continental breakfast, fresh coffee and tea. This will be an ideal opportunity to network with others in the circuit, meet the circuit staff and see what we get up to! Please let us know if you would like to join us, for catering purposes. Becca.

May Market: on Saturday 21st May from 11:00am. The stalls include Loxley Farm produce, plants, cakes, books, toys, £1 stall and a raffle. Prizes for the raffle and any items you wish to donate are welcome. Refreshments and cold/hot lunches will be served.

Syrian Aid. If you have (or know of) a space roughly the size of a double garage that can be used to store and sort clothing and water to be taken out to Syria in two months' time, please see Becca.

The Joint Public Issues Team, who brought you 'Think, Pray, Vote', have produced an impartial resource to inform you about the major issues in the EU Referendum coming up on 23rd June. There is a printed copy on the front desk which you are welcome to read and then please leave for others to do the same. You can get your own copy at http://www.jointpublicissues.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/Think-Pray-Vote-EU-Referendum-resource.pdf. Becca.

To All Groups Using Church: before leaving the premises, please ensure you switch off all lights, in particular the toilet lights. We are trying to minimise our utility bills. For 2015/16 the total cost of electricity, gas and water was £6,000 (£120 per week). Thank you for your co-operation. Cliff & Stuart.

Prayer Group Report

Last weekend, we read from Hebrews chapter 8: ‘I will put my laws in their hearts... I will be their God etc...’

We prayed for the church worldwide and for its leaders that they may be fully committed to spreading God's Word. We prayed for our own church and for all who come onto the premises. May they feel and know God's love here.

We gave thanks for the work of ministers and local preachers - especially across the Sheffield District - for the services they conduct, for pastoral care, for work in schools etc...

Following the findings of the recent inquiry into the Hillsborough disaster, we prayed for peace for all those involved - the families, the police, the ambulance crews etc...

We prayed for the 11,000 people whose jobs are in the balance following the collapse of BHS and for workers at Tata Steels where a buyer is yet to be found.

The Joseph Rowntree Trust has found that over 1 million people in Britain are destitute. We gave thanks for the food banks which have been set up (especially 'Share' at Parson Cross) to help such people but look forward to the day these are not needed.

Our prayers continued for the Middle East, for refugees trying to settle in new countries and for those who have stayed put but are still suffering in many ways. A recent bombing of Aleppo in Syria hit a hospital killing several people, including the last paediatrician in the town. May God's Holy Spirit rest on all leaders, whatever their faith, to show justice and compassion so that we may see peaceful settlements where there is turmoil.

In the words of a 12th century prayer: ‘Send forth your wisdom, O Lord, to live in our hearts, to work in our lives, to speak in our consciences.’
