Prayer Group Report

We read Psalm 61 and also from Isaiah chapter 41: ... 'Do not fear for I am with you... etc.' Our prayers continued for the family of murdered MP Jo Cox. She not only showed love for her neighbour but also for her neighbour's neighbour.

Even the 'rabble' in Parliament was silenced as they gave thanks for her life and her involvement in politics.

We prayed for the influence for good to be ongoing following the result of the EU referendum and hope for a national togetherness going forward.

Biblelands asks us to pray for Syria remembering the people who remain there. Christians find life extremely difficult and we prayed especially for their agent who continues to distribute bibles as more and more people visit his shop despite the threat of death or abduction.

More bibles are needed to meet requests and fulfil Biblelands vision to reach every Syrian with God's Word. We gave thanks for this work and prayed for an end to war in Syria and elsewhere.

We remembered the situation in Gaza, much of which is now destroyed.

In Zambia the works at a huge copper plant led to pollution but the operating company has no regard for the local community. This causes huge health and environmental problems for local people. We prayed for steps to be put in place to force the company to resolve this.

Our prayers continued for all those mentioned in our prayer book, the distressed and all in need. Enrich us with the gifts of your Grace, O God.
