Prayer Group Report

We read from Colossians, chapter 4: 'Devote yourselves to prayer so that God may open a door for our message...' etc...

We gave thanks for God's promises. May we understand the words we read in the Bible and respond to God's prompting.

Thanks and praise too for the the new equipment, the volunteers and the regular team at the Oakes over their busiest ever summer when they will have hosted 47 'camps'.

We prayed for the new Chief Executive of Tearfund, as he takes on this responsibility. Tearfund teams are working in many parts of the world. In Africa much of their work is with H.I.V. sufferers and in helping farmers and others, learn better farming techniques. In Brazil Tearfund supports number of projects working to combat child trafficking and to help the poor. Many of the volunteers are 'gap' students. May this continue.

There has been a phenomenal growth of the Christian Church in China and Biblelands asks for prayer as they continue their work there.

Many people in Syria are turning to the words of the Bible as extreme Islam fails to meet their spiritual needs. The war has caused misery on an unimaginable scale and Biblelands believes that half the population has now either been killed or fled. May they find compassion wherever they go.

We prayed for those affected by drought and forest fires in America where climate change seems to have had a great impact. May the initiatives to combat climate change be put in place.
