Prayer Group Report

Last week we read verses at the beginning of Psalm 105 - 'Give thanks to the Lord, call on his name... look to the Lord and his strength, seek his face always... etc.'

We prayed for the various coffee mornings being held to raise funds for Macmillan nurses and prayed for those suffering from cancer, especially any known to us. We gave thanks for the work of the Macmillan nurses and others helping relieve the pain and stress of cancer sufferers.

The Methodist Prayer Handbook asks us to pray for Pakistan and Bangladesh where, despite difficulties, the Church continues to share practical Christian love to improve the health and livelihood of its communities.

Tearfund has been working at the Paralympics and has ongoing projects with the disabled in many parts of the world. In some countries, e.g. Nicaragua, disability is seen as a result of sin and many are victimised or ostracised. The Church is helping to educate people about this wrong perspective and integrate the disabled into ordinary village life. In partnership with The Leprosy Mission, Tearfund helped a man, previously shunned in his home village, to set up a business selling liquid soap. He is now helping others who are disabled.

Lord be sunlight in our day and let us rejoice to be about your business.
