Prayer Group Report

Last weekend we read again from Psalm 105 - 'Let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice', then from Psalm 8 - 'Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!'. May we be lights for God's kingdom in all we say and do.

The Methodist Prayer Handbook asks us to pray for the islands of the Pacific - Tonga, Vanuatu, Tuvalu, the Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea etc. We gave thanks that the Methodist Church has a presence in these places and works alongside various administrations. A recent grant has been acquired to establish and supply a hospital in the area.

Many of the islands are still in fear of inundation as sea levels continue to rise as a result of global warming.

We prayed for the initiative being promoted by Tearfund (The big church switch) to encourage us to use only renewable energy sources.

We prayed for those mentioned in our Prayer Book and others in need giving thanks for answered prayer.

Thanks too for our abundant harvest and the fun enjoyed at our harvest supper.

Please remember in your prayers those living in desperate need of food and shelter, those in war-torn areas etc. We think especially of those suffering in Syria (and Aleppo in particular where bombing is ongoing and the water supply has been cut off), in Yemen, in the Democratic Republic of Congo etc...
