If you would like to come, please write your name on the list which is on the reception desk. The event is free, but donations to Christian Aid will be welcome. Please come and support us and have an enjoyable evening.

Bring & Share lunch. There will be a bring and share lunch after the service on Sunday 4th June. If you would like to join us, please sign up on the list on the welcome desk and indicate what you would like to bring. Sue B.

Your Church needs YOU. Yes you! There are a number of roles that need filling in the life of our Church. If you would like to know more about them, please speak to Katie or one of the stewards. At this time, we are specifically looking for someone to be our Christian Aid co-ordinator and new church stewards. Could you do one of these roles? More information can be found on the welcome desk.

Pentecost Street Party with choirs and entertainment is being held on Sunday 4th June, between 3:00pm and 5:00pm, on the cathedral forecourt. This will be followed by a service at 5:30pm inside the cathedral for which tickets are required. These are free and can be obtained by registering on the 'Thy Kingdom Come' website or by enquiring at the cathedral. The service will also be relayed outside on the forecourt.

Churches Together Fun Day is on Saturday 24th June, 1:00-4:00pm, in Hillsborough park. As usual refreshments will be served and we are asked to supply as many cakes as possible.  If you are able to provide a cake on the day, please sign the list on the welcome desk. Similarly books and DVD's will be given away, if you have any you wish to donate. In addition, volunteers are needed to steward various children's games and bouncy castle during the afternoon and to dismantle and clear up at the end. If you are able to help, please also sign the list.

Shooters Grove Children's Centre. A new group aiming to give help and support to young mums who have recently given birth (incl. breastfeeding drop in) is starting on Wednesday 7th June, 9:00am-4:00pm, at Wisewood Church, in the Owlerton room.

General Election. As we are drawing nearer to Thursday 8th June, the Joint Public Issues Team have created resources, without Political Party bias, to help us Christians prayerfully reflect on the issues facing us. You can find them online at http://www.jointpublicissues.org.uk/resources/study-resources/ and Katie has printed a couple of copies of a resource called ‘Faith in Politics’ which people are welcome to take home and use.

Polling Day. On Thursday 8th June, the church is again being used as a polling station, all day. Please do not come into church, unless you are voting.

Prayer Group Report

We read from Psalm 9 - 'The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble' etc.

We prayed for all those recently bereaved, for the sick and needy and for the homeless - especially those sleeping rough in our city centre.

We gave thanks for all the agencies working to help people in their need. We gave thanks for the blessings we enjoy living in a 'free' country and prayed for persecuted Christians suffering in various countries because of their faith.

We prayed for those leading worship across the world, giving thanks for their commitment to spread God's word. May their words reach into the hearts of many, provide answers for those still questioning and see God‘s kingdom increase.

Thanks too for all those who organised, helped at and attended the church's May Fair. May it have helped to extend God's kingdom.
