Action for Children. Gift envelopes are STILL available for donations in support of vital work still being carried out in helping neglected and vulnerable children and young people, this year focusing on peace and mental well-being. If you are a tax payer and are able to gift aid a donation, please do so. This will provide an additional 25p for each £1, at no extra cost to ourselves. Thank you for your continued support - it will be most gratefully accepted. Stella.

Many thanks to all those who supplied cakes for, helped steward at, dismantled tents etc or just visited the Churches Together Fun Day. It was a good 'do' and reached a big cross section of the Hillsborough community. Margaret P.

The Community Singers are having a summer break. They will restart their meetings on Thursday 7th September. Tim.

Ladies' Guild Coffee Morning is planned for Saturday 29th July 10:30am-1:00pm. There will be a cake stall and 'Bring & Buy'. All welcome. Sue & Pat.

The annual Friends of Wisewood and District Funday takes place on Saturday 29th July 11:00am-3:00pm. This year’s event will include a car boot sale along with the usual stalls, bouncy castle etc. Please stroll around to the Riva/Sports Centre site after you have enjoyed coffee at the Ladies' Guild coffee morning here at Wisewood Church, on the same day. If you would like a pitch for the car boot sale, please see contact details on the poster in the porch or speak to Margaret Parkin. Help to man the churches’ craft stall and games on the day would be appreciated. As a church, we need to be eager to be involved in community events, if we are to try and show Jesus in action.

Sophie Palmer thanks everybody who sponsored her for her charity walk. She raised £135.00. Thank you.

Prayer Group Report

We read from Isaiah, chapter 61 – ‘The Sovereign Lord has chosen me to give the Good News to the poor etc.’

We gave thanks for Biblelands, and other agencies, working in many areas of the world to spread God’s Word.

Biblelands asks us to pray for their work in the Middle East, especially Palestine. Also in Jordan where there are many thousands of refugees who have fled there from war and unrest in neighbouring countries. We prayed for resources to be available so that they can be offered the care they need and for Biblelands’ volunteers to be able to work amongst them.

As the G20 summit continued in Germany we prayed for world leaders and their discussions. May they all acknowledge the need to do more to care for our world – its resources, environment and people.

May God’s Holy Spirit guide decisions made in world, national and community affairs.

We prayed for wisdom and unity in our own government to bring us back to a fairer sharing of resources and wealth.

We prayed for all who follow God’s way to take time each day to listen for His guidance to serve Him in the best way possible.
