Circuit Service is today, Sunday 17th September at 6:00pm at Firth Park (not at Warren, as stated on the preaching plan). It will be led by Rev. Judith Jessop, Naomi Gordon and Nick Waterfield and will include a video about their pioneer ministries. Refreshments will be served after the service.

Howard and Joan B. would like to thank everyone for all the love and support they have received over the last few weeks. They have been deeply touched by all the cards of sympathy and celebration. A donation of £250 has been sent to the Alzheimer's Society in memory of Lily.

Joan and Ian W. would like to thank everyone for their good wishes and many beautiful cards to celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary. We were delighted and overwhelmed. You have kept Jackie G. busy!

Share Food Bank. We are going to be collecting for the Share Food Bank again this year, at Harvest. Priority items: cereals, UHT milk, tinned meat, tinned vegetables and potatoes, tinned tomatoes, rice, soup, rice pudding, toothpaste, tooth brushes, shampoo, shower gel, deodorants, toilet rolls and soap, please. Katie.

Harvest Social. There will be a Faith Supper on Saturday 23rd September, 6:30pm for a 7:00pm start, followed by home grown entertainment. Please sign up on the list in the foyer if you are coming. If you are able to provide either a savoury or sweet dish, then this would be appreciated (please indicate which on the list) but this is not a requirement to attend. All are welcome. There is no charge. If you believe you can provide about 3 minutes of post-supper entertainment, then please see either Howard or Sue Ro.

Banner Making. Calling all who can sew...! Would you like to help make a new banner? If so, let Annette know when you are available. Thank you.

The Wesley Guild will resume on Monday 25th September, at 2:30pm, with a devotional session led by Katie Leonowicz. All are welcome. John G.

Prayer Group Report

We read Psalm 98. 'Sing to the Lord a new song... The Lord has revealed his righteousness to the nations etc.' May we lift high the name of Jesus and broadcast the 'Good News' far and wide.

We gave thanks for the work of the Methodist Church throughout the world. At the start of the new Methodist year we prayed for the President of Conference and for the Assistant President as their year of office begins. The annual meeting of the Methodist youth 'arm' (3-generate) continues to grow and this year is to be held at a larger venue (Pontin's, Southport) to accommodate the growing numbers of young people attending. Praise God. May they be so enthused as to take God's message back to their churches, family and friends.

We gave thanks for our freedom and all the blessings we enjoy.

We prayed for those less fortunate and for the aid agencies committed to helping them in various areas around the world.

We remembered those known to us who are struggling with illness, those who have recently been hospitalised, the lonely and housebound, people mentioned in our Prayer Book or in any kind of distress. May they feel God's peace, be restored to health and know that they are not forgotten.

Please also pray for the many thousands of people affected by recent hurricanes, floods and earthquake.

In Myanmar thousands of Rohingya Muslims are fleeing persecution and making their way to Bangladesh.

We gave thanks for the comfort we gain from knowing God's love which sustains us always.
