Prayer Group Column

We read Psalm 15 - "... who may live in your sanctuary? ..." Tearfund asks us to pray for the people of Brazil. There are still a huge number of street children, many of whom are trapped in prostitution. According to UNICEF sex tourism in Brazil now rivals Thailand with more than 150,000 children involved. We prayed that children may be protected more, to eliminate this abuse and prayed too for those working with street children, helping to build safer communities where they can thrive. Some recent changes have helped raise living standards for a few, but there is still a huge gap between rich and poor.

Looking at Syria, Iraq and Iran, we are fearful for what happens across the Middle-East. Nowhere in the Q'ran is all this violence advocated. May God raise up someone who will seek the mind of God and bring peace. May the U.N. also have a strong voice to calm the situation, to avoid more bloodshed. We prayed for peace.

We gave thanks for the Bible Society bringing the Bible message to the people of Congo by means of drama and issuing audio devices ('proclaimers') to bring God's message to blind people. May their work spread through the land.
