Prayer Group Report

We read from Psalm 5 'Listen to my cry for help  etc...'

Our prayers continued for those presenting the Alpha course in Ghana and for Biblelands, translating God's Word into various local dialects.

In Israel some fanatical Rabbis are goading Jews to take revengeful actions. We prayed against all fanatics and that the Holy Spirit may replace revenge with words of peace and forgiveness.

The newsreader Jon Snow has helped a Palestinian artist working in Gaza but unable to leave there by smuggling out some of her works and setting up an exhibition in London. We prayed for the well-being of all those trapped and denied freedom of movement or living in difficult circumstances.

We prayed for our own government, the EU and the United Nations’ Committee for Refugees that solutions may be found to the huge problems of refugees trying to settle in Europe, especially those camped near Calais who have caused such disruption to cross-channel travel.

We remembered the 70 year anniversary of the first nuclear bomb and prayed for peace.

We prayed for the dentist Walter Palmer and his family whose lives have been severely disrupted since his hunting trip in Africa. His killing of a tagged lion has sparked international outrage. We prayed that those showing hatred and calling for retribution may consider the effects of their actions on his family.

We prayed for the leaders of Guides, Brownies and Rainbows who work so hard with so many children. May they be encouraged and know God's blessing. May the Rainbows' sleep-over have been enjoyable and have shown them something of Jesus.
