Prayer Group Report

We prayed for the people of France following the devastating terror attacks. Psalm 35 speaks into this situation - 'Contend O lord with those who contend with us'... We placed Paris and its people into God's hands and remained silent as we thought of all those whose loved ones went out for a night of enjoyment and did not return. We remembered too other places where terrorists have committed mass killings (Mumbai, Kenya, Iraq, Liberia, Nigeria etc.) and prayed against religious hatred. This interpretation of belief is in NONE of the world's major religions.

We prayed for the COBRA meetings being held in Downing Street and for M. Hollande and his Cabinet seeking solutions to conquer the evil which prompts these murderous acts.

We prayed for all the areas disrupted by hatred and war thinking especially of the Middle East. May God help our world become less selfish and more loving.

Our prayers continued for Christians whose faith is often put to the test. In many parts of the world Christian groups are facing elimination or have had to escape dire circumstances by fleeing to refugee camps. We prayed for their safety and gave thanks for those who go into dangerous situations to help others, remembering the ones who have lost their lives doing so. We prayed for the Church to be strengthened to spread the 'Good News' of Jesus.

We gave thanks for the Guide and Brownie leaders - for all the innovative ways that bring so many young people into the groups which meet on these premises. May they all take in some of the ambience and feel God's presence here.

We prayed for the activities being organised to reach out to our community as Christmas approaches. May we be able to show people the true meaning of Christmas.
