Ladies' Guild will meet on Tuesday 11th October at 2:00pm, with topic: 'How the Tudors celebrated Christmas'. All are welcome. Sue and Pat.

Church Council Meeting will be on Tuesday 18th October, at 7:30pm, at church.

Church Bank Account. Due to the closure of the Hillsborough branch of HSBC, we've had to move Wisewood Methodist a/c to the Nat West in Hillsborough. I have been assured that Standing Order payments will change seamlessly to the new bank and, as far as I can tell, this has happened. However, if anyone notices anything untoward, please let me know. Thank you. Many thanks for using this giving method. It makes life a lot easier. Would anyone else like to change to S/O? If so, please speak to Di.

Family Film Evening. On Friday 21st October at 5:30pm we will be showing 'The Lion King'. Bring some snacks and feel free to share! All ages welcome. Children to be accompanied, please.

Volunteers needed to help with the preparation of the Notices / PowerPoint. If interested, please speak to Flory.

Prayer Group Report

Last weekend we read from the book of Amos about injustice and the use of wealth.

We prayed for our government ministers to be people of integrity to seek care and justice for all.

We prayed for local councils and councillors, especially for our own city, giving thanks that it is a 'City of Sanctuary'. 'Christians against Poverty' are working locally to help the destitute and those who cannot afford to buy sufficient food, as is 'Share' Parson Cross food bank.

We gave thanks for the generosity of local people who offer supplies to the food banks and prayed for the day there is no longer a need for them. May we all be more attuned to the words in the Bible and promote care and justice.

Tearfund asks us to pray for Ethiopia, Tanzania and other places where they have set up self-help groups, building up the confidence of people to set up small businesses etc. May this initiative spread across Africa and lift people out of poverty.

There is terrible tension between the USA and Russia as the war in Syria shows no sign of diminishing. The city of Aleppo is under almost constant attack and many have been killed or injured. The largest hospital there was bombed recently and aid agencies are prevented from taking in supplies for the vulnerable. We prayed for this awful war to end and peace to reign.

Lord, may we love and serve you always.

May all who spread your word have hearts softened by you to become more like Jesus every day.
