"There is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."

Acts 4 v.12

Film Evening. As we are still in the Easter season, we will be showing the film 'Risen' on Friday 5th May at 6:30pm, in the church hall. Bring some snacks and drinks (no alcohol) and feel free to share. There will be a short discussion following the film. Ages 12+ only (12-16 to be accompanied by an adult). The film contains moderate violence, injury details and scenes to do with the crucifixion. 'Risen' is the epic Biblical story of the resurrection, as told through the eyes of a non-believer. Clavius, a powerful Roman military tribune and his aide, Lucius, are tasked with solving the mystery of what happened to Jesus in the weeks following the crucifixion in order to disprove the rumours of a risen Messiah and preventing an uprising in Jerusalem. Katie.

The Sheffield branch of the Gideons invite you to their Friends' Meeting on Saturday 13th May at the Salvation Army Citadel, Psalter Lane. The meeting starts at 2:30pm, is due to finish at 3:45pm and will be followed by a buffet tea. All welcome. Margaret.

May Fair will be on Saturday 20th May 11:00am-1:30pm. We would be grateful for any item/s you may have for sale. The stalls are: plants, cakes, books/toys, good quality bric-a-brac, £1 items and the guides/brownies. Refreshments will be available. We welcome your support. Sue Ron.

To all at Wisewood Church. Thank you for helping us putting together the most wonderful celebration of Nico's life and best party he's ever had. We are very grateful for all your hard work. Laura, Flory, Fedy and Stuart.

Prayer Group Report

Dorothy read from her book 'Prayers for Peace' featuring prayers by Maggi Dawn - a Christian musician, theologian and lecturer. This looked at the hardships suffered by so many in this present day and challenged us to reach out to those hardest hit.

God freely gave himself for us. May He teach us to freely give of our money, time and effort to help others and spread His love.

We gave thanks for all the agencies who help millions of desperate people around the world and for the different ways they find to raise funds.

We prayed for peacemakers as we see tensions rising in various parts of the world (N. Korea, China, USA etc) and the terrible consequences of the continuing civil war in Syria.

Our prayers continued for the new Commissioner of the MET and for the new Bishop of Sheffield. We prayed for our city that it may continue to be a welcoming city without prejudice.

We gave thanks for the commitment of all those leading worship services and prayed for the Holy Spirit to lead them in their studies and guide them in proclaiming God's love.
