Churches Together Fun Day is on Saturday 24th June, 1:00-4:00pm, in Hillsborough Park. As usual, refreshments will be served and we are asked to supply as many cakes as possible. If you are able to provide a cake on the day please sign the list on the welcome desk. Similarly, books and DVD's will be given away, if you have any you wish to donate. In addition, volunteers are needed to steward various children's games and bouncy castle during the afternoon and to dismantle and clear up at the end. If you are able to help, please also sign the list.

The Annual Church Meeting will be held on Tuesday 27th June at 7:30pm, in the Owlerton room. All are welcome. A copy of last year's meeting minutes can be seen in the entrance hall.

Chippy Church will NOT take place in June.

Magazine. The deadline for all articles for the summer edition of the magazine is Friday 30th June. We would be very interested in the stories behind some of the artefacts within the church and items of interest that have been donated or bequeathed i.e. the painting behind the choir stalls, furniture, pictures, embroidery etc... and how they came to be at Wisewood. If you have any information regarding any interesting objects in the church, or perhaps they have special meanings for you, please share. Thanks. Stuart C.

Family Friendly Film 'Moana' will be shown on Friday 30th June at 5:30pm, in the church hall. Please bring some snacks and feel free to share. There will also be Moana themed crafts. All ages welcome. Children need to be accompanied, please. Katie.

Christian Aid. Thank you for the wonderful support you have all given to Christian Aid through the retiring collections, the Community Choir concert, street collections and Sunday coffee. Thank you. Church Stewards.

Prayer Group Report

Last Sunday we looked at a reflection in a book by George Craig, a Methodist local preacher in Cardiff, 'Look forward to the wider horizon'. On a walk to the beach with his grandson, the boy was happy to play in the small patches of sand along the way without ever seeing the beach and all the new play opportunities it offered him. Our faith may be stuck in the comfortable place we like to be, without listening to God and seeing how much more we can do for Him. We prayed for the gift of faith to draw us on and trust in God's promises. We prayed for those mentioned in our Prayer Book - so many diagnosed with cancer and many others in distress through illness, bereavement, loneliness etc... We remembered the survivors and the bereaved following the terrorist atrocities in Manchester and London and gave thanks for the N.H.S. and the emergency services who work tirelessly and compassionately in very difficult situations. We prayed for Christians in other lands persecuted because of their faith but who, nevertheless, do not renounce their faith. We prayed for a coming together in peace for all faiths. May we have an understanding of how we might achieve a peaceful world. We prayed for a better form of government following the general election. May God's Holy Spirit move throughout Parliament and make a difference. May the name of Jesus be lifted high and the gifts of the Holy Spirit be evident. May we bring joy to God's heart in sharing His love with all we meet.
