Betty Davies sends a big ‘thank you’ to the friends who so kindly gave her lifts while she was living at the golf club. Very much appreciated.

Sierra Leone flood appeal. As many of you will know, on Monday 14th August there was an horrendous mudslide and flooding near Freetown, in the hillside area of Regent. As of 16th August over 312 have been confirmed dead and over 100 properties submerged. Help is desperately needed. The help we can immediately give is in offering our prayers and having a retiring collection on Sunday 20th and Sunday 27th August. The monies collected will be channelled through Christian Aid which Sue Bagshaw will organize. Thank you as always for your generous support. Church Stewards.

Prayer Group

The Prayer Group was unable to meet but in last Sunday’s worship services we were encouraged to be still and trust in God’s unfailing love for us. May God remind us that He is always there and that when we trust in Him, His power flows into our lives helping sustain, heal and guide us.
We prayed for clear light and guidance as we see all that is happening in our world, especially for the leaders of nations. May they have the wisdom to seek peaceful ways of settling differences. We prayed against modern day slavery, as we hear of so many instances of people trafficking. In this country, we see examples of adults and children being trafficked for sex and of vulnerable people being forced to work in various ways for little or no pay.
We prayed for the leaders, ministers and members of the worldwide Church, especially those facing persecution and suffering. Lord may we come to know that You are there, suffering alongside us, waiting to show us the way through our troubles and take us forwards. May we all be willing to become the caring, sharing people that God wants His Church to be.
